Ballygiblin National School is a welcoming, inclusive, and child-centred school located just outside Mitchelstown on the Ballyporeen Road, beside Ballygiblin GAA pitch. With a strong connection to our local community, we are proud to offer a high standard of education in a warm, supportive environment guided by our motto: Mol an Óige agus Tiocfaidh Sí.

We believe every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and inspired. At Ballygiblin NS, children are not just pupils—they’re individuals with unique stories, strengths, and needs. Our staff—comprising class teachers, Special Education Teachers, and SNAs—work closely to ensure every child is supported to thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.

We place a strong emphasis on hands-on, skills-based learning, where children actively explore, build, design, collaborate, and problem-solve. Whether it’s through class debates, practical science investigations, or group projects, we want our pupils to leave with more than knowledge—they leave with confidence, curiosity, and real-life skills.

Technology is used meaningfully across the school. Each classroom is equipped with an interactive screen and our shared iPads support learning and creativity. We are committed to becoming a school of excellence in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths), with initiatives including Learning Labs, VEX Robotics, and the use of AI learning tools.

Physical activity, creativity, and wellbeing are woven throughout school life. Our participation in the Active School Flag, Green Schools, and Health Promoting Schools programmes reflects our belief in nurturing the whole child. From hurling and swimming to music workshops and school quizzes, children enjoy a wide variety of experiences that help them discover their strengths and passions.

Pupil voice and leadership are key pillars of our school culture. Through our Student Council, Active School Committee, and House Points system, children are given meaningful roles in shaping their school and supporting one another. Senior pupils are empowered as role models and mentors for younger classes.

Ballygiblin NS is proud to work in partnership with parents, families, and the wider community. We value open communication, shared purpose, and mutual respect. Adjacent to the school is Súgradh Preschool, offering both preschool and after-school support, further strengthening our early years and community links.

Above all, Ballygiblin NS is a place where children feel they belong. A place where they are encouraged to be kind, to be curious, and to believe in themselves.
